Cassandra “Sandy” Brown

Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate

Cassandra “Sandy” Brown is currently under counselor supervision working towards her Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor license in Winston-Salem, NC. She works with individuals, adolescents, and families. Sandy has experience working with adults and adolescents through depression, anxiety, life changes, grief, trauma, and interpersonal relationship challenges. Sandy is currently receiving training to become a Certified Trauma Professional. Sandy recently graduated from Liberty University with a MA in Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counseling and has previously earned a BS in Psychology (Summa Cum Laude) and MA in Human Services from Liberty. Sandy has been serving clients at Trinity Christian Counseling since July 2019.

Sandy employs various theoretical methods with a Christ-centered approach to help clients on the journey to wellness. While it may seem important to have a foundation in one theory only, Sandy believes there is no ‘one size fits all’ path to healing. She has found success using a variety of interventions including Cognitive-Behavioral, Person-Centered, Gestalt, Experiential, Dialectical Behavior, Art, and Sand Tray therapies. Sandy believes it is critical to discover the appropriate approach for the client to be engaged, connected, and invested in his or her healing work.

Even more vital to the healing process is the inclusion of a biblical perspective on healing. Sandy knows that God is the creator and ultimate healer of all people. Just as God is the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, man is also a trio: mind, body and soul. When one of those parts bears woundedness, the other two cannot function effectively. Sandy invites clients to participate in Christian counseling through prayer, revelation from Scripture, and Christian-centered books to pave the way to healing. Sandy believes transformation comes through a renewing of the mind and encourages clients to use Christian principles as they discover and reframe the link between experiences, thoughts, feelings, and actions.
